UPLB Decors

Thinking of new pseudo-resolutions, packing gifts, planning out-of-town vacations, setting up decorations, and flowing of cold breeze through your face, what seems to be the approaching occasion that is celebrated by almost all of the countries, if not all? It is of course the famous Christmas time.

You can also feel the spirit of the Yuletide season here in UPLB.  You could see a lot of minimal decorations inside the campus. There are lanterns, lanterns and of course lanterns. You could see a lot of it right? But there are three main Christmas decorations that you would really notice because besides being very big, they are very well made. The three decorations are the giant Christmas tree, Nativity scene, and Santa Claus with his reindeers and they are found right after the UP main gate.
Christmas Tree near One Silangan

I would like to comment on the first decoration from the east, the giant Christmas tree. I love the designs of the tree but I think it is gradually being destroyed by the rain. Admit it, the gingerbread house and the large gifts beside the tree are both cute. I just wish they were in my house.
C-park

The next decoration is the Nativity scene found in C-park. The scene is very realistic as they have portrayed the scene like it was in stories.

The last but not the least and most liked decoration within the three is Santa in his sleigh with his reindeers. I like this awesome decoration in UPLB because the lights are nice and the reindeers are almost realistic because they seem to fly and with Rudolph having red nose.

I am just curious why only the entrance has these extravagant decorations. I am quite sure that inside the campus you will not see decorations like the ones you see near the gate. UPLB became like a tourist spot because of this decorations. It is really common for us to beautify only the things we see upfront and not the whole of it. Like in a person, you have a perfect outer beauty but what is inside is unsure. But never mind this schizophrenic thought of mine that will alter the subject that is UPLB decorations.

Past Year Events

I am about to narrate the soon-to-be past year 2010.Year 2011 is fast approaching and we are about to forget the past year. Isn’t that sad, just because you are about to face the year ahead of you doesn’t mean you need to forget the year 2010. 2010 is a fun year too. Let me cite some of the events that happened.

·         January
The “future” past New Year 2010 is fun. I was not in the Philippines. My family and I were somewhere in Al-Khobar that time and it was really fun to spend the time with your family.

·         February
We had our February event, Valentine. Of course booths were all over the school. Marriage booth, the famous booth is really selling a lot. Couples were together all the time.

·         March
The month that is familiar to all graduating students. Who wouldn’t be happy to march along the aisle to graduate? This is the month that made me really happy as I receive my diploma.

·         April
My birthday! This is really a nice month and the only one that I am most excited. I celebrate with my family and friends. I love this month because I feel so special.

·         May
Here is like my rest month. There is not much of an event, only resting and during the later days I get ready for the upcoming college life. I buy more clothes and any materials that I will need during college.

·         June
This is the start of the first month of schooling. This is where the adjustment period from highschool to college starts. I gain new friends from my bloc CD-1.

·         July
There is no event within this month besides more adjustment to the new life. Here, I am more familiar within the surroundings I am living in.

·         August
Here comes the August month where usually a college student starts the Hell days. If you consider this a fun event, then it’s good for you.

·         September
It is during this month that we had a field trip to Enchanted Kingdom. It was my first time going there. It was so fun even if our reason for going there is a group project. I hope I could return to that marvellous place.

·         October
It is in this month that I first sembreak that I have experienced. I went back to Riyadh and I really missed it. It was memorable and kind of awkward to go back to your alma mater as an alumnus.

·         November
I am still in Riyadh within the first days of this month. I missed UPLB too and got excited when I was about to return.

·         December
And the month that will soon pass by as we wait for Christmas and New Year. A lot of events will happen this month including my Grand Family Reunion and my mother’s birthday. All important events this month will be my first time experience in the Philippines.

A lot would have written about the past year 2009. I chose 2010 as my past year not because I am bitter about it but because I am really excited in the year 2011. As December finishes and we have gone to the next year, I hope year 2011 is just as enjoying as year 2010. May we all remove all the anxieties and worries. Let us remove all the stress that we have earned during 2010. I hope that year 2011 is a fruitful and bountiful year for all of us. God Bless us all!
